Equipment Reservation/Checkout
   
Q: Can you deliver the equipment to my class?
A: Equipment can only be delivered for a class if the professor is physically unable to pick equipment up because of an injury or disability. Another option is you can assign a student in your class as a proxy to pick up your equipment. This student's name must be submitted to our department in an email from the professor. Only this student will be allowed to pick up the equipment, other than for the professor.
   
Q: I am a student. Can I check out equipment for my class?
A: Arlington -- Students may check out equipment for one class period or up to three hours by leaving their valid Mason ID and signing for responsibility for the equipment.

Fairfax-- Students may only check our laptops and projectors by having their instructor make the reservation for them. For all other AV equipment, students may check out equipment for one class period, or up to three hours for classroom presentation practice, only by submitting a request and leaving their GMU ID with the classroom support staff upon pick up. Equipment cannot be released to the student without a Mason ID. A Driver's License is NOT a valid ID.

Prince William -- Students may only check out equipment by having their instructor make the reservation for them with a budget code. The equipment is to be used for the class period and in a valid classroom. Equipment cannot be released to the student without a Mason ID. A Driver's License is NOT a valid ID.

Q: How long can I keep equipment that I check out for my class?
A: Arlington -- Loan periods are typically one class period or up to three hours. Exceptions must be made on a case-by-case basis, however, overnight and off-campus checkout is not allowed. Call the Classroom Support Office at (703) 993- 8226 for more information.

Fairfax-- Loan periods are typically one class period (up to three hours). Exceptions must be made on a case-by-case basis. Call our reservations and information line at (703) 993-2206 for more information.

Prince William -- Loan periods are typically one class period (up to three hours). Exceptions must be made on a case-by-case basis. Call the Classroom Support Office at (703) 993-8499 for more information.
   
Q: Can a student pick up equipment for an instructor?
A: Yes. Their name(s) must be included in the "memo" field of the equipment reservation form.
   
Q: Who should I call when I have problems with the check out equipment?
A: Arlington--Call the Classroom Support Hotline at (703) 993-8226 (or 3-8226 from a campus phone).

Fairfax--Call the Classroom Support Hotline at (703) 993-3456 (3-3456 from the classroom phone or other campus phone).

Prince William--Call the Classroom Support Hotline at (703) 993-8499 (3-8499 from the classroom phone or other campus phone).
   
Q: Do I need any ID to pick up equipment?
A: A valid Mason ID is required.
   
Q: Am I liable if the equipment gets damaged or misplaced?
A: We require your department’s budget code for equipment checkout in case the equipment is damaged in a way inconsistent with normal wear and tear.
   
Q: How do I request equipment for checkout?
A: Fill out an equipment reservation form.
